Choose a walk you want to do
Look at the distance, uphill sections and likely finish time on the events calendar. Our walks are free or low cost. Each event explains the plan and any charge. When the group stops for food afterwards, you can stay for lunch or head home.
A walk on the county border
Croghan gives men from both Wexford and Wicklow a place to meet. The Croghan walking guide explains which forest entrance we use and how the uphill return walk fits into a morning. For a different pace, look at our trail runs.
Coming on your own
Message Naoki before setting off so he knows to look out for you. Ask what footwear makes sense for that route, where everyone is meeting and what happens if the weather changes. If introducing yourself in a group feels awkward, just tell the first person you meet that it’s your first walk. The first few minutes are usually spent sorting bags and getting moving.
How the Irish group began
Our first Irish outing brought four men together over ten kilometres. You can try a walk and decide afterwards whether you fancy another. The first-hike guide covers the practical details.
